Ok. Think about it. Keep in mind that during the Straight Line portion, the Right Arm is not straightening. Leave that for the Pulley.

One more thing. If you're looking for a Swing Thought that can start you off on the right track, then try thinking "LOAD". Load the Right Foot, then Load the #3 PP.

While goofing around at the indoor range I made the mistake of turning my hip and driving my right arm! I made a second mistake also, of trying to use Extensor Action as a trigger, I believe. Trigger = swing thought.

Old habits/wrong habits die hard! I can see that if I just loaded the inside right foot, there would be a sufficient weight shift so I had more to drag down! I tend to forget and keep a lot of my weight on my left leg since it is shorter.

I really have to form a checklist like in the yellow book so I can practice correctly.

Thanks Daryl!

50 degrees near Philly today for about 10 minutes before going to 45 degrees and partly cloudy and a local course we play about once a year with lots of slope and a par 71.

Using Aim Point Technique on the course with my imitation Steve Stricker swing! Right Forearm Takeaway to my right ear into a braced right knee. Fully extended right arm on plane at set-up, RFT, and right hip turning left while "mind in the hands" directing the thrust of PP # 3 three inches aft and in from the ball for driver (straight ball and summer distance) to 5-6 inches for a high draw.

Right to the inner quadrant of the ball for a high lazy fade.

An inch in front of my 3 wood for a solid and long, straight shot or a great hybrid!

But the real cool thing was hitting my short irons within 10-20 feet of the pin by aiming my thrust an inch ahead of the ball! Very cool.

Did I mention the divots?

I had several nice surprises yesterday including the uniform, shallow divots with my wedges and middle irons. I started to feel like a TV PGA "superstar" with the consistent divots and much closer to the pin results.

I also realized today, that I can really trust the # 3 PP drag/lag and that The Aim Point technique is a really powerful tool from any lie! My right forearm will go, as Lynn always says, wherever we point. "Point and reach for the cup!" Yesterday, I got confused with sometimes trying to guess the measurement of the Right Forearm Angle of Approach (RFAOA). Then I snapped out of it and remembered what Daryl said about using that RFAOA to measure!

With any ball lie, I would keep my impact fix and simply place the wedges down on the ground wherever I would like to lag to or drive through. Then I would RFT back to my right ear and then simply fire! I could compensate for any lie by adjusting the Aim Point and keep my right wrist really bent.

I am sure I am missing something basic but this seems incredibly easy. Just be gentle when you call me a moron remembering how sensitive I am!

More benefits of the Right Forearm Angle of Approach

Understanding the RFAOA has allowed me to have a better understanding of the Plane, Axis Tilt, set-up, thrust and now Aim Points and now pressure points, and the tracing/covering the line techniques.

Making progress not perfection is the goal. I've realized that tracing the Baseline of the Plane helps the left wrist lay flatter and the right wrist be more bent for swinging and covering that line helps the right forearm drive the heck out of Pressure Point # 1, the heel of the right hand on the left thumb.

I was trying to figure out how to drive more effectively for more power. I know that I have to stay on the inside of my right foot for swinging or hitting. Turning my right hip to the left works great for swinging but for hitting? So I experimented with driving off my right leg which from extra use is a lot stronger than my right. Man, the loading of PP # 1 was strong and instantaneous! BAM went the impact bag!!!

So, does it work for swingers? Is this what VJ Trolio's fine book on Hogan "The Final Missing Piece" speaking about, namely, a push off the inside right edge of the back foot shifting most of his weight to the left before the thrust forces the front hip to turn left? Well, I will experiment an report back! Anyone else can chime in too!

This is a very bad idea - not cool. You will be dangerously close to running out of right arm at Impact and a resulting lack of compression!

Sort of doing my imitation of Steve Stricker -sorry not to be more clear.

Before that post, I went to youtube and looked at Stricker's iron and driver swings and, sure enough, his right elbow looked almost straight, but I still think it's a bad idea for us.

I hit a lot of good shots with that technique but I have to really learn my Aim Points so I can know where to thrust. I really have to find a spot and a stance to drive down to the ball!
