PGA Tour Players who Swing as Tomasello taught swinging
Just read another piece on a PGA Tour pro that appears to swing as Tom Tomasello taught (Luke Donald featured in this months Golf Digest - July issue).....in this thread I'll keep a list of top players who seem to fit into this category.
So far......
-Jodie Mudd (studied with Tomasello)
-Ernie Els just checkout his book "How to build a Classic Golf swing" page 126 then page 41 for starters.
-Retief Goosen - swing analysis by Ian Baker-Finch..."Retief all right arm".
-Davis Love III - Davis Love Jr. worked with Tommy.
-Luke Donald - July 2007 Golf Digest swing analysis by Pat Gross (look for the term quiet lower body in the analysis).
-Zach Johnson - Studies the swing with Mike Bender.....checkout the Golf Academy live piece on Bender talking about the golf swing....resembles Tommy's instruction to a T.

Went back to Mr. Big Easy's book last night.
Man, I love what he has to say. Really speaks to the hand controlled pivot - hips respond to hands (feel, intent, actual microscopic movement - whatever)
he is thinking of feeling his hands move down plane. (Thus preventing an early right hip spin out and the resulting disasterous interferance). Hips slide an amount, but his focus is in the hands.
How about players like Darren Clarke and Kenny Perry?
They look as if they're hitting but with horizontal hinges. Would you say they can fall into the category of right arm swingers?
swinging is pulling and hitting is pushing.you cannot hit and draw the ball.
you can have right arm participation and be a swinger, but you are still pulling.kenny perry is a true swinger,i grew up with him and play practice rounds with him all the time.he cannot hit a cut to save his life.if he was a hitter that would be all he could do.ask yoda if you dont believe me.i was demonstrating to him today hitting and swinging during a practice round in cleveland today, when i dont want it to go left and make sure it cuts i use hitting motion.the right forearm loads completely different and is very evident at top and finish.once again you cannot draw the ball using hitting motion.if you are you are not doing it right.

John - You might doublecheck with Yoda, Rob or Ted on that one. There is a way to work the ball using a hitting stroke. Rotating clubface in the grip and adjusting plane line. Much different procedure than for swingers but equally effective. Agree that a "pure" hit is a slight fade, but with adjustments you can hit it laser straight or draw.
Those that have mastered hitting are few and far between because it is only taught by a handful of TGM folks, and some of the procedures are very different from swinging.
Go gettem this week!!! Good luck!
