Straight from the book - "by experiment"

A good place to start searching is the impact fix hand location, which should be just outside the left foot from the player's point of view. But the aiming point changes with the length of the club; the shorter the club, the further forward the aiming point is.

Handspeed and trigger delay also affect the aiming point. With a sweep release (high handspeed) the aiming point is further back, and with a late snap release (low handspeed) its further forward.
