Yoda "hit 10,000 of these"

Great stuff KOC

I think the problem most people have with Basic Motion, one accumulator is that they are making too big a swing. Yoda likes to take people to beside a green to work on basic. Its a little , short chip shot. Say 10' long including roll!. As he says "no more than 2' back and 2' through". You shouldnt feel compelled to add any accumulators it being almost like a putting action.

A grip change is recommended as an option for Basic Motion where the club is gripped in the palm of the left hand similar to a putting grip. This effectively zeros out the #3 accumulator angle. Leaving you with #1 or #4, your choice.

As easy as it sounds it aint that easy. Requiring you to make adjustments, check the flying wedges, start at fix, flat left wrist, finish with both arms straight, weight left, lots of right arm etc until you get it right. But it is like an entrance exam for your alignments and a pre requisite for acquired motion and the longer shots. You'll know you are getting it when you feel a sweet three dimensional impact and true compression on these little shots. I find getting to both arms straight to be key for me.

Learning TGM principles is fun and great great great for your short game. Moving to acquired (acquire an accumulator or two) , vertical, horizontal angled hinge actions, ball position, various lag pressures, various accumulator combinations, cut shots, low shots ,runners , stoppers. This is control over club shaft, head, face and the tools of the shot makers trade. You can do more to improve your long game here with a wedge in your hands than actually working on your long game. To say nothing of how good your short game will get.
