Your eyes make you want to have as vertical a move as possible because our mind tells us the back of the ball is the place to hit. Once you can really visualize that you are looking at a tilted roof (the plane) from above, a lot of TGM will become easier to absorb. Shot shaping then becomes a matter of moving the machine around for the shot you want.
