I like that term "kickstart" - I've always felt it gives "oomph" to the swing - more than just getting the hands/right shoulder to a correct position, it seems to give a more powerful DS. I understand why you prefer the steep shoulder action instead of the flat shoulder turn - you don't like to lift the arms, so it's necessary in order to throw the arms up, and get the steeper arm plane you want.
