Good question. Im thinking that the foot line is often given far too much significance in terms of aiming. Where as in reality its primary role is to retrict the hip motion. An open foot line would restrict the backward turn of the hips and free the forward motion. The shoulder frame being directly connected to the arms has far more impact upon aiming than do their distant component friends the hips or feet.

So to answer your question, in Basic Motion we typically address the ball in our Impact Fix Alignments given the extremely brief and low powered shot we are making..........feet, hips slightly open , weight left. There is room for personal preference here. But the open shoulders would be more indicative of a true "cross line" out to in, bent plane line type shot. A cut shot. The opposite would be true of the hook shot, a low runner, with a plane line and the feet and shoulders aligned to the right.

Add some variance in ball position: up for high floaters and back for low spinners for instance and you have the makings for a great short game.
