They have sort of a micro-ridge outer structure which provides great grip, but are still pretty soft. Supposedly, the tour version is a little firmer if the regular version is too soft for you. You might get one of each try them out and see which you like best. The only downside I have seen is they tend to wear a little faster than a standard rubber grip, but that may be a function of grip pressure (sometimes I strangle the clubs a bit).
