Basic CHipping/motion-Running out of right arm/When to fully straighten-HELP!!!!!
Making my way through Yoda and VJ's DVD and I feel I may be too aggressive in my hitting procedure.
I think I try too hard to straighten the right arm and do it too soon or even over do it and end up with TOO much lean.
I find it very hard from a set up parallel to my plane line and square face to get very much loft at all and really dig in with the leading edge.
In digging through my closet of training aids I found a Tic Tac for your arm, I placed it on my right elbow and not my left and clicked it so my elbow was slightly bent and then proceeded to hit some basic motion shots. I could hear the click very close to impact if not before. The weird thing was if I set up in Impact fix and did basic motion without hearing the click I compressed it nicely.
I feel more pivot and this is more of a swinging procedure?
By the way the balls I'm using for most of these are practice balls called birdie balls. The give good visual spin of a square hit.

I'm not playing much as my puppy is in the middle of rehab for hip surgery so I have lots of time for basic motion.
Ruthin, I'm new at this too and my basic motion feels the same as yours. However, I haven't been able to video record myself see how I look when doing my basic motion. Keep it up my man; you know it's going to get better-- especially if you're hanging out with these guys.
Thanks guys, I am certainly not scared around greens chipping anymore. Is it ok to hold onto that elbow bend through impact?
Or should I be actively straightening through impact?
Ruthin, I like the feel of holding on to the right elbow bend through impact. To me, it feels as though it straightens up at the right time without me consciously thinking about it. Nevertheless, that's just only what I feel. For you, it may feel totally different. On the other hand, I can actively bend and straighten the right elbow through impact and make some wonderful shots around the green without any problems. However, this feels like to me that I am only thrusting the right arm without any shoulder turn—just a feeling.

I can say safely the internet is a wondeful resource for lost "swing" souls.
There are a number of fantastic websites and instructors. We are very lucky Lynn shares his extensive TGM knowledge here, and as student of the swing it is great to learn about all different ways of swinging a golf club. I learn something new everytime I view the Alignment Golf DVD's.
Thanks for the comments and advice, I struggled with the right arm on plane concept but for my short game it is helping tremendously.
I can see situations now where a no pivot right arm bend and straighten could work very well....
My Incubator really hatched partly wearing the Taly on my right forearm and realising I needed to be a bit more bent over to allow it to stay slighlty bent, then Yoda's post on the left arm wedge being crucial to it all having the left wrist vertical and level.
When I put the Tic Tac on my right elbow it was hatching time with whistles and bells!!!!!
I also heard Yoda mention about Brian Gay pivoting to the left slightly on his short game shots, can anyone remember this?
I have hit a few basic motion chip "sitting" on a walking stick and really crunched them if I felt my backside move this stick forward an inch or so before coming back down and through to finish.
Almost like a tailbone bump to the left. I was certainly reverse moving my tailbone to the right for chips, totally screwing around low point.

I am really struggling with getting the right forearm on plane at address, I think you look great in the very first segment, was there anything you used (whether an article, video) that helped you get the address setup?
Dowels dowels dowels first of all. Much easier to do when you are not looking at a clubhead, then I used a Taly on my right forearm practicing setting up. Finally using a Tic Tac elbow training aid on my right arm not the left helped tremendously as I would click it to bend my right arm and keep it "unclicked" in my setup, intially it would unclick as I set up losing the alignment.
This post from Yoda kind of finished off the deal for me, I still think I could do better
