Most Improved Players / 2009
Although I perform no professional instruction at Atlanta Country Club, I have been a member there since 1973. In the past couple of years, I have been privileged to teach a handful of members 'off site'.
I am pleased to announce that two of these students have just won the club's annual Most Improved Player honors. Congrats to Alex White, Most Improved / Men; and Katie Skeeles, Most Improved / Junior Girls.
[Let the record show that 'ol Yoda had no students eligible for the Ladies or Junior Boys categories!]
Alex and I began working together in 2007, and he has seen his handicap drop from 9 to 1. This year was special in that he won several prestigious club events, and also, broke 70 for the first time (shooting 69, 3-under-par, twice). Every game Alex plays is a money game, and needless to say, it's been a profitable ride down the handicap chart!
Katie and I began working in August of last year. In the 16 months since, her handicap has dropped from 24 to 7, the second-lowest female handicap at the club. She also won the 2008 award, which makes real the promise of "continual progress".
Congrats, guys. I am so proud of you both!

Congrats! To me it's these kind of stories that are much more impressive and indicative of one's teaching prowess than how many horses are in the PGA Tour stable. Certainly not to discount the success of your tour folks . . . but "regular" type golfers NEED OLE YODA!!!
Very impressive again and something all should take note of. Nice work!!!

Yoda,
On a side note, I can't believe I haven't been nominated for "Most Improved Fat Guy" among your students!
In all seriousness, you made my year. Thank You Sir!!!

By the bye, Kev. Yoda never once told either one of us to keep our chins up.
Congratulations Yoda.

I'm going to say very late-30s. I'll get a photo next time we get together and put it up on our LBG Champions Wall-of-Fame.
