I think you are the persecuted one, Daryl. A martyr for the ages! C'mon people! If you have an issue with Daryl it is because he has not "moved on" from TGM like so many of you have. He has decided to plant his flag on Mt. Homer. His book literalism irks the existential types that prefer to coin their own golfing phrases. I would think, either practice is acceptable. We forget sometimes that this site is intellectually underwritten by Homer Kelley's TGM, and Lynn Blake's deep understanding of the same. I personally see Daryl's tongue firmly planted in his cheek unless of course you are trying to mould TGM into your current golf stroke presuppositions...then it is open season and justifiably so. The archives are full of Lynn's (and others)book-based explanations. I made a deal with myself a while ago. When I understand the book as well as Lynn I will then decide whether or not to discard it, or elements of it.

I like gadflys like Daryl they stir the sediment in my mind. If you are that easily offended then once your toys are tossed out of the cot feel free to hop out as well! Or duel at twenty paces like men!

Seriously, there's a difference between "Lively" discussion and someone "Suffering". I think it has a lot to do with the perception of the one reading the response. I'm not a "mean" person. I certainly don't want people to suffer. OMG, this is a Golf Forum.
Cheap shots involving racial and religious bigotry, whether with serious intent or not, only serve to demean you.
Rather than proving how smart you are, in comparison to your perceived antagonists, they have quite the opposite effect.

However, we agree that there is a difference between lively discussion and "someone suffering" due to remarks of a personal or demeaning nature. Strange really, in view of your use of the latter whenever it suits your purpose.

To use another analogy, isn't that a bit like punching someone on the nose then saying "sorry, I was aiming for your mouth"?

The Muslim thing was really funny.

Burner, Lighten up a little. Even I don't take myself that seriously.

Who's worse, me? or Bill O'Reilly?
