I am monkeying around with the start-up swivel of standard wrist action. when I used single wrist action my focus was on the right forearm takeaway, letting the pivot cause the turning of my arms etc. I started to get below plane. I noticed that my hands were set too low (ever so slightly cocked...not level) With the level wrist ALIGNMENT I noticed that a start-up swivel seemed easier to achieve. So I am now trying to figure out how the start-up swivel and the right forearm takeaway properly relate to one another. I have a basic understanding that the left wrist is the boss, and that the right wrist follows. So at present I am turning the left wrist palm to the plane...great...my confusion is understanding (execution is peachy) what happens next? My feeling is that the checkrein of the turning left hand and arm causes my right elbow to bend as my hands get closer to my right shoulder. Is that just a seems as if? I am in no way suggesting that the left arm is taking the club back, up and in. It just seems as if with good extensor action I cannot feel the right forearm pick-up! Then again extensor action is a bit of a stretch! I mean...you keep your left arm straight by trying to straighten your bent right arm...you bend the right arm by trying to straighten it against the checkrein of the stretched left arm

Okie I have never seen the bolded insights from Yoda before. Interesting. Ive been trying to crack the code of Yoda start up for a while and this has me thinking.

In my pursuit of start up perfection Ive been goofing with something that seems to relate when Im swinging not hitting. I come from an active push away with the left arm and side sort of action and as a result have been fighting its participation. With a notion of the left arm as anchored for a beat or two, the fanning of the RFT does turn the left forearm a touch. Or so it seems. I like the feeling but wonder whether this is contrary to the left hand as boss of the hinge action?

I love your line about extensor action being a bit of a stretch. Classic.

Good bet Drew said it first! This is a prickly feels one way/but it is really another problem for me. I feel the stretched out left arm, but it is being moved by the right arm which I "feel" less, although I feel a lot of #1 PP as a result of extensor action. I guess I need to translate the feel into the real. Yoda's gift for articulation is needed. No doubt he has addressed this issue...I just have not found it in the archives...where I often vacation. I want to keep the start-up swivel...I have better success tracing the plane line with it (given level wrists of course.) As a "lighty" my hands used to hang like a primate...level wrists are a key alignment for my machine.

Id say the feel of the pressure points is very, very real. Maybe what its all about.

What happens when you take that extensor action feeling in pp #1 and hit the ball with it? Is it like an added mass at impact, a substitute for arm acceleration, a motion glue for the flying wedges, a key to effortless power and consistency? Does it guarantee radius power? Do you feel like you are hitting the ball with your on plane right shoulder like never before? Does the bending right elbow now cock the left wrist? Do you sometimes feel like you could wake up in the middle of the night and without warming up smack a pure 1 iron off some hard pan? Do you ever think of buying cashmere cardigans, a white cotton cap and some Maxwell golf shoes with an extra spike? Do you ever fake a limp or scowl at a soft draw through the smoke of your cigarette?

I cant imagine ever giving up extensor action, hard though it was to adopt.
Very hard. So much structure to be had with it.

The Backstroke Swivel occurs as the bridge between the Start Up (8-4) and the Backstroke (8-5). Until then, the Left Wrist (Bent / Byron Nelson or Flat / Jack Nicklaus) executes a Backstroke Hinge Action -- Vertical to the Horizontal Plane (Swinging / Horizontal Hinge Action) or the Inclined Plane (Hitting / Angled Hinge Action) -- as the Body Pivots (Zone One) and the Right Forearm 'traces' the Plane Line (Zone Three).

Just as the Finish Swivel (2-G and 12-5-3/3) serves as the bridge between the Follow Through (8-11) and Finish (8-12).

Damned if I did not know that it had something to do with frikkin' hinge action! Hinge action, much like lag pressure is something I fake knowing. Faking it on the course of course until I make it!
