Short Irons=No roll Long Club=You better roll.........
It seems that my short irons (lob through 8 iron) I get best results when it feels like no roll through the ball, while with longer clubs, I'd better roll or its not good results.
Whats up with that? Wouldn't it be ideal to have the same feel through the ball for all clubs (assuming you seeking a consistent ball flight pattern)?

check that you are on plane - the more on plane you are, the less you need to 'do'. One of the big advantages to learning a full roll is that it will make up for a lot of earlier issues, because it tends to help get you on plane through impact. Of course there are limits to how much off plane motion can be overcome by on plane roll.
The rotation is an 'on plane' force.
