Tom Ness
Tom Ness is a G.S.E.M. in Atlanta. He was an assistant to Davis Love Jr.. He has worked with the Golf Digest Schools for years, and worked with all those guys that have been with Golf Digest...Toski, Flick, Chuck Cook, etc.

Tom has also studied with Ben Doyle and other TGMers. The IMPERATIVES he talks about in the article... I think are something Mr. Doyle quotes often, and are probably from one of the early editions. The three HAND IMPERATIVES.

Tom is an excellent teacher. He works with all types of players, and has some tour players also.

On 30th April 2006 Yoda wrote the following ( i forget the thread title)....

"...there were actually Eight Imperatives in the 2nd and 3rd editions!

The first five referenced above did not have a paragraph reference of their own. Instead, they appeared in the first paragraph of 2-0 General. And then there were...

The Three Hand Action Imperatives of 6-H-0 written in all capitals:

A. ALLOW NOT THE SLIGHTEST UNINTENTIONAL CHANGE OF PRESSURE POINT PRESSURE;

B. ALLOW NOT THE SLIGHEST MOVE TO PREPARE TO SWING THE CLUB FROM THE WRIST;

C. ALLOW NOT THE SLIGHTEST PREPARATION TO BRING THE HANDS TO A STOP.

These Three Hand Imperatives found their ultimate identity as Quitting, the Second of the Four Snares. They now exist only as a memory and as the genesis of 3-F-7-B. Like 'Dear Old Great-Grandad,' they are gone, but not forgotten.

And now you know...

The rest of the story!"

Yoda was adding to Golfingrandy's post which stated..

"The 5 Imperatives showed up in the 2nd Edition:

1) Stationary Head

2) Balance

3) Rhythm

4) Flat Left Wrist

5) Clubhead Lag"

I have not read the Golf Digest article yet.

I knew there must have been more to it because I had heard Mr Ness was a good teacher who knew his TGM.
Thanks Bulldog and Lagster for your clarifications. I only have the 6th edition.

I like the one about "ALLOW NOT THE SLIGHTEST UNINTENTIONAL CHANGE OF PRESSURE POINT PRESSURE"

As a swinger...it is easy to forget about pp1...it is not actively thrusting but still need to make sure that right hand sustains pressure there during swinging.

I agree ,and I like the use of "unintentional". Another one often overlooked and totally necessary in my opinion is not changing grip pressure.
