Most people through no fault of their own (blame pop instruction) can't pivot correctly when concentrating on a stationary head because they have no understanding of the hip turn on the backstroke. Nowhere near enough slide.... Remember also even when using a right anchor variation the right hip location is going to change. So in reality the right anchor variation is not that far removed from standard because your leg must change its bend in relation to the hip motion due to its structure. The difference is keeping the balance further within the inside of the right foot to limit the hip slide in comparison to a standard variation, yet you must still have the flexability to clear the right hip.
