An LBG Hall of Fame
 

Bagger Lance’s quote "That's it! - We need an LBG Hall of Fame!" struck a chord with me because I have long thought there should be a section in which fundamentals are clearly and concisely explained with minimum verbosity. An LBG Hall Of Fame post should, IMO, meet certain criteria among which I would suggest the following

• Addresses a fundamental concept.
• Is unambiguous
• Is enlightening
• Is concise.

For example this post by 6bmike
“Yes, the Left wrist is Flat because the Right Wrist BENDS, not the other way around.” Would, IMO, qualify as a candidate.

An LBG Hall of Fame Post should not be trivialized. It should be nominated, seconded and granted that status only after being unanimously approved by a panel of appointed judges.

One problem you would encounter is the Hall of Fame would soon overflow with posts by one man but this could be overcome by dedicating a section entirely to Yoda posts.

It has been suggested often enough before so is it time for some serious consideration to establishing an LBG Hall of Fame?

Strav, I totally agree.
Organization of this area would be important.
This would be the single place where I would go for a complete review.
Within the "Hall of Fame" there should be areas that concisely cover each step of the swing.

In my mind, since this area is so important it should be refered to only as "The LGB Hall of Fame", not as "HOF" or any other short name.

The requirements should be striclty adheared to.

If something should happen to your game, you should be able to sit down, study the pertinent section of The LBG Hall of Fame, review and practice it and then you game should be back on track.

I'm with you Strav . . . and 6gunMike has plenty that should be nominated . . . BUT this 'un ain't quite complete. The left wrist is flat because the clubshaft is in line with the left arm that is rhythm and that is the left arm flying wedge. HOPEFULLY the right wrist will be bent . . . but it ain't gotta be bent . . . it sure does help though!
Don't get me wrong . . . the right wrist SHOULD be bent but you can satisfy the imperatives if it ain't.

This is a good example of exactly what I mean 12 piece. If in the judges’ opinion it does not meet the unambiguity criteria it should not be included. Simple as that.

The standard should be set on high and only the very best selected.

Listening and giving it some thought.

From my perspective, I've been here since day 1 and after nearly four years there are probably thousands of Hall of Famers. If we exclude Lynn and some of the Pro Contributors, maybe we get under a thousand. It would be tough to do.

Do we just gather them up on one place as we go or start from the present and move forward?

It's easy to set up a forum category, but based on the quality of posts over the years, it will be the most populated forum category on the site.

Jim I believe many would use the posts in an LBG Hall of Fame as you describe. I know it would save me many hours in front of a computer searching through old off-topic threads for those random golden nuggets which do not deserve to be hidden away.

Bagger we are in a good position - we have an embarrassment of riches but I can see that has the potential to be overwhelming if not handled correctly. Perhaps we could avoid this by setting a yearly quota from now on after selecting a quota from nominated past posts.

I agree with Bucket, the Flat Left Wrist is your "Bullet-Proof Vest" for the golf course.

As far Hall of Fame Posts, I suggest you make your own HOF; copy and paste to a seperate file on your computer or make a paper copy and put it in a file under different headings: Hinge Action, Plane, Swinging, Hitting, Extensor Action, Delivery Path, etc., etc...

Drew your suggestion of keeping a separate file on your computer and making paper copies is a good one for personal study and one I have used since first becoming engrossed with golfing forums however in a busy world not everyone has the time and/or patience to do this as there are literally thousands of posts to scan. Your overflowing filing cabinet and mine will probably be seen by very few people.

An LBG Hall of Fame would acknowledge the outstanding contributions of many authors by the administrators and the authors’ peers to the understanding of The Golfing Machine. It would assist not only in streamlining research by the thousands of current and contemporary members but also those who will follow long after we are gone.

The contributions of LynnBlakeGolf to the promotion of golf worldwide have already been substantial and the establishment of an LBG Hall of Fame can only facilitate and increase those contributions.
