AT&T Pebble Beach

Was looking at the Friday-Saturday pairings....see that Bobby Clampett is playing as well as Steve Elkington...wondering if Ben Doyle will be there to watch his former students play.

Somebody with TGM knowledge has clearly been working with the 'stars'.

Looked like an excellent, true northern California golfing day out there. Some of my favorite conditions to play in for sea side golf.

Bobby Clampett had another solid performance with a 1 over 73 at Poppy Hills today placing him tied for 71st...not bad for a TGMer coming out of the TV booth. Elk is slipping a bit posting a 3 over 75 at PH and in a tie at 137th.
Got to love to see Tom Watson with a 68 today and tied for 8th.

One of my favorites is David Duval shooting a sparkling 68 placing him tied for 18th....great to see him coming back to form...isn't he from your neck of the woods Yoda?:)

It's going to be a great weekend of competition at a beautiful spot on the California coast.

The cut was made at 1 today for Sunday's round. Lots of notables will not be playing on Sunday including Clampett and Elkington who posted 3rd round scores of 76 & 79, respectively. The winds & weather today were difficult..some players still on the courses in the later part of the day did not fare well. Today's high score was 88.

Phil Michelson is bouncing back at Pebble this week and is tied for 1st. Fan favorites Tom Watson & David Duval will be playing Sunday both posting scores of 72 at Spanish Bay. Watson is tied for 13th and Duval tied in the 23rd position. A local favorite from UCLA is tied for 4th with an impressive round of 67 today...hang in there Corey Pavin...who said you have to be long off the tee to win in this game.

Sunday should be a good finale...maybe the winds off Pebble Beach will be kinder than today.

Sunday's Final Round

The weather was wonderful today at Pebble Beach and the scoring went low. Phil Mickelson is back to his winning ways with an impressive 5 stroke margin of victory over the rest of the field posting a 66 today for a total 20 under par 268 for the week.

Next week is also going to be terrific here on the West Coast with the Tour's next stop at the LA Nissan Open with probably the best field of the year meeting at the Riveria Country Club. Phil Mickelson will be here along with many other world ranked players including our own Brian Gay.

Yes ...I will be there too on Friday in the gallery following our own Brian Gay. Filming the event will be impossible with the strict rules during tournament play...but I am hopeful to personally say hi to Brian (with a little help from our fellow teacher/mentor Lynn Blake) for all of the members. Weather is expected to be nice for the LA area...no rain in site for the 4 day event. Brian is off to a great start this year and as I have told Yoda wouldn't it be great for Brian to capture a victory here at Riveria where Ben Hogan played and won.

Hector Garcia -- a true friend of Lynn Blake Golf -- and his pal will be attending the Nissan as Player Guests of Brian Gay.

Thanks, Brian!

As of today, we have a small world...

But it is growing.

And those who were there 'in the beginning' will never forget it.

Nor will I.

Have a great day, HG & Co. We at LBG appreciate you -- our 'West Coast Support Team!' :)

In general, I see a lot more am's that are on a better plane, with a good 'swing' of the club and a flat/flatter left wrist. Certainly players like O'Donnel (paired with Elk) and the surfer (don't recall his name) and Tom Brady - all solid players, and with motions that reflect the core concepts of TGM. Even higher handicap players (Don Cheadle) have some solid alignments.

On another note, Phil on Saturday was looking much improved IMO. A much more defined power package and rhythm, and a more stable center. A 'classic' swinger. If he can keep up that extensor action and stay centered and in rhythm, this should be a big year for him.

He better pray that Eldrick's wife makes him stay at home with the baby while she works . . . Otherwise coming in 2nd will be a good year.
