A Week In the Swamp With Yoda / Comments Thread
Post your comments here!
:golfcart2: |
It's probably a lot of extra work, but all these short videos and pictures give an interesting insight into what we golfers need help to find solutions to. Great work. Thanks. :salut:

I am now officially torn as to which thread is my favorite here in the lounge. Airair has put in so much effort to gather together an amazing amount of information. And now there is this one where Lynn and ICT make that information come to life with all of the great photos and video. All I can say is thanks to everyone for the tremendous efforts.
|
Well, now I know why we didn't get to talk this week! You certainly were busy, Yoda. The video with ICT on putting and chipping surely was intended for me. I have applied it and some the ills I have suffered of late are soon to be cured. Great stuff. Thanks for posting. Was a mini refresher lesson for me.
|
There's a lot to digest there, thanks Lynn ! I'll have to dig in the Forward Press video in particular.
methinks one of the great (non golf) achievements of the week was to render ICT almost speechless ! :toothy1: |
My thanks to JR for that easter egg on "forward press"......never thought of it in that way, having learned golf in the golden era of the "Hands Only" Forward Press.

9 a.m. !!! I was stretching my back out by 2 p.m. every day while Lynn was just getting warmed up! Those of you interested in lessons should also realize that Lynn gets requests from all over as I also learned. If you have the resources, Lynn has the answers and the mad, mad, TGM skills. :golf: ICT! |

:golf: ICT![/quote] There is no doubt Yoda is an absolute treasure. The day I spent with him (KevCarter and Kev Sweeney)was filled with energy, passion and way more information than I could ever absorb. It is been nearly two years and I still flip through my computer (pea-sized brain)dredging things up from that day. Looking forward to talking to you, City. g |

Great post again O.B. If I may add one note. This first few feet of Hand travel in Startup which J.R. describes, a travel motivated, produce solely by the Hips clearing from their Fix position: Some would might say "Ah, but surely that's Pivot to Hands". To which I would say; "Not necessarily, Buster. IF you're Tracing, with your mind in your Hands .....its still Hands to Pivot". The same deal happens in Startdown when the Pivot takes the Hands Down the Inclined Plane for the first wee bit. The Pivot may be driving the car but the Hands are back seat driving, directing. |
The post count at 2700 plus was proof enough that you're "mental"
however responding to your own post via 3rd person - truly genius! |
I did truly enjoy the videos from the swamp. I am not sure Lynn is feeling 100%. I have no reason to say this except its a feeling I got while watching. Being tired is one thing, to me this is different. Air you are working hard to succeed and I applaud your efforts.Let me share with you this, do what Lynn tells you, no need to listen to others.I am sure you will get all info needed from Lynn. Good Luck

Lynn is no Clark Kent. He always wears his cape!

Lynn interacts with his students. I move with a decided limp and Lynn was very patient with me as I tried to keep up with the gold that falls from his lips every second. Perhaps, OP, you are familiar with how people subconsciously change their cadence and movements when they are with someone with an obvious injury. Well, sometimes when I purpose to step forwards, I actually move sideways! The kids at school know I injured myself wrestling King-Kong, and KK lost!!!! :) ICT |
Many great posts OB!

Lynn showed me, OB, early on the first day, the essential need to LAG back and though TRACING WITH INTENTIONALITY!!! PIvot power and "Educated Hands!" ICT :salut: |

Ms. Carol's contributions

Lynn, I forgot to get the lovely Ms. Carol's demonstration of baton twirling! :( ICT! |

It would have helped greatly with your driver twirl after your "arrow through the ears" move. |

I had a chance to interact with both men at the Swamp and they have "mad skills" in addition to being true gentlemen! The Swamp is a happening place y'all! :golfcart: ICT |
That works for me. I was only concerned for you, glad to know all is well

Baton Twirlling With Mrs. Yoda
Quote:
I'll never forget the first shot she hit. After completely missing the ball the first couple of times, she hit a perfect shot: compressed, well flighted, and with a slight draw at the end. Her secret? She was a majorette in high school, and she related the golf swing to her baton twirling . . . Yoda: Honey, you've never swung a golf club in your life. Where did you learn that motion? Mrs. Yoda: It's easy . . . Ball-thumb. Y: Ball-thumb?? MY: The ball of the baton follows the left thumb. Y: But, you're right-handed. MY: Of course I am, you green dummy, but if I were twirling left-handed, it would work the same way. Y: So, the release motion in golf is just a left-handed baton twirl? MY: Just get your students to make that motion, and they'll do fine. Now, where are you taking me for dinner? :idea1: |
Very Informative!

Some awesome posts there Yoda! Quick question though, the video with Curt Sanders in it, was it to demonstrate setup or is there more to the video?
Keep up the good work! Alex |

Really liked the JR video about the forward press. Lots of interesting things to incubate! Alex |

I was channelling Daryl on that one but kept it to only one level.......he can have whole conversations with himself. Truly amazing and perhaps what Homer meant by "Divergent Vectors". Ob |
Quote:
I can vouch for this, well the Daryl part anyways. Sometimes he'll even start disagreeing with himself. That takes some talent. Well , not that much talent maybe if you know what I mean. Ob |

It’s alright to talk to yourself. It’s even alright to answer yourself. It only becomes a problem if you’re talking to yourself and you go “Huh? What did you say?” |
Quote:
So true D, thanks for sharing that with the group. You know, Im not going to pay any attention to what I say to myself from now on. To heck with that nutjob! By the way the video you mention..........that is a golf video right? Cheers ob |

Part V Redux
I've added notes to the photos and videos in Part V. It's worth another look!

HI Yoda,
Enjoyed the Flail video. The demonstration really brought the golfer's flail to life (As always). Can you share instructions on how to make a version similar to the one you use? |
Tools of the Trade
Quote:
I built my flail from scratch, i.e., without any plans. And, trust me, in the mechanical and woodworking area, I am not an expert! Take a hard look at what I've done, and do your best to replicate it. Your model is the Golfer's Flail in Sketch 2-K #4 and #5. It's not the best I could do, but when I did it 29 years ago, I had no idea I would be using it as I am now or that it would be broadcast around the world! I soon will mass-produce a handful of mission-critical tools for my Lynn Blake Certified Instructors (as well as dedicated aficionados). My goal is to deliver wonderful teaching tools to my instructors, immediately and at a fraction of the cost they would incur to "do it themselves". It's all in process and all part of a much larger theme. :3gears: |

Enjoying the proof of the pudding

5 pars 2 birdies including our # 1 HCP and # 3 HCP holes Front 9 putts = 14 for a 44 Back 9 puts = 11 for a 43 Total 87 In addition, I hit my brassie over 200 yards on 4 holes to the green or short fringe for pars or birdies. How did my score get so high? It was cold, wet and very windy and I moved or was moved a lot on the tee by wind gusts. I also forgot to close my shoulders to TSP several times. Also, I was a little overwhelmed by all my chipping and pitching option so I hit several closed face chips and several flop shots well past the hole. You see I was hitting the ball so solidly that the ball just kept rolling by the holes! :laughing9 I will do better next week Lynn! We did win our Nassau! Thanks! ICT |
So, that means you need 12 strokes from me. Ok, but I get to drive the cart. :)
