Enjoyed Ken Venturi's interview and was moved by his last story. Looking forward to watching and learning from Jackie Burke. Thanks, O.B.!

Welcome home Yoda. We missed ya.

Thanks...

...for both postings. I had heard Venturi's comments before, but Jackie Burke's interview was a real treat. Great common sense thoughts from a guy who has "been there and done that". I couldn't help but think that his kind of wisdom is what is so sorely missing from America today, especially from inside the Beltway! If more Americans had Burke's "hustle", the Democrat party would be non-existent...

Rush,

I think you would really enjoy reading "It's Only a Game", by Jackie Burke Jr. That is when your game is not going to the "right" :) .

Had the pleasure of Champions Golf Club. Members have to have a handicap of 15 or better, or at least did a few years ago, in order to join. The club boasts of having the most single digit players in the country.
Jackie's office was is done all in rich warm wood and features framed photographs of Hogan, Demaret, Crosby and on and on. The room holds his life his history and his love for the game. A real treat to see.

In his book, The Golfing Machine, Homer Kelley subtitled his already-named Chapters. For example, Chapter 1 / Introduction / Golf as a Game. And Chapter 2 / Statement of Principle / Golf As a Science. Finally, through 14 Chapters and the Index / Golf As a Warehouse Inventory.

The Jackie Burke story is -- and continues to be -- his own. Indeed, it is fiercely his own. His office interiors and the Champions Club he built with Jimmy Demaret reflect his own life lived.

Jackie Burke / Golf As a Life.

Works for me.

FL- I did read it, but, it's been awhile. I only recall his comments on all the $$$$ spent at the Ryder Cup by the PGA. BTW, I consider your calling me "Rush" the ultimate compliment! Thank you!!

These are the full interviews from the video that Mclean did on Hogan if I'm not mistaken. Something to listen to this afternoon...
