After Practice Thoughts
A little about me:
I've been a professional for over 30 years. I used to be a pretty OK player I got the short game yips around the year 2000, 50/50 whether I could chip it on the green from 5 yards off. Luckily I hit a lot of greens I got the driver yips last spring. Quit playing and couldn't even hit balls with members watching. Nobody was safe. Had no clue whatsoever WTF was going on. Basically quit the game. Started studying TGM last fall to make myself a better teacher, and hanging out here in an effort to get a clue. Now my thoughts: 1) Anyone who says a steady stationary head is not an imperative doesn't like Mom and Apple Pie. 2) Anyone who says that a clubhead lag pressure point is not imperative and THE SECRET TO GOLF doesn't like gravy on their biscuits. 3) Anyone who says it is not imperative to go through the line of compression with a flat left wrist, and avoiding throw away... just run, run away fast, they may be demonically possessed. I hit balls today, just basic and acquired motion. I haven't felt compression like that in 10 years. Just working on basic structure and flying wedges from the Alignment Golf DVDs, and trying to get the right forearm on plane like Brian Gay, and sorry, but a little S&T and Trolio thrown in. Last winter I was yipping wedges even from the mats, couldn't get it airborne. NO FEAR ANYMORE. Wearing out the center of the face may be exaggerating a little, but not much. The yellow book really isn't fun, it's hard work, but it's the TRUTH. Thanks YODA and crew for keeping us on the proper path. I AM SO EXCITED, I get to play golf again!!! Kevin Oh, one more thing. I apologize YodasLuke, I'm definitely a swinger! :) |

Truer words have never been spoken. That is EXACTLY what I have learned. The yips were a poor excuse for not having a clue. Yesterday, I set up to those little white balls knowing I was tougher than they are, they can't beat me and Homer combined. I opened up a can of whoop-ass on those suckers! :laughing9 Thanks for the welcome Sir Henny, I enjoy your posts and have read many of them. Kevin |
Dear Kevin,
Feel sad for the first part of story but what a nice second part of story for the G.O.L.F. experience that you are enjoying now. |

New beginning/understanding
This is an open note of sincere thanks to Kev Carter for putting me onto Lynn Blake, Homer Kelly, TGM and a whole new world of potentially exciting golf.
Kev lent me his copy of AG. After the first viewing I ordered my own. I then started visiting Forums on a pretty regular basis. Kev said to buy the 7th edition, which I did. I carry it nearly everywhere. This is Minnesota so I chip and pitch in the basement working on the TGM fundamentals. I took the swing out to the dome a couple times and didn't have much success early. Continued reading in TGM and the forums along with discussions with Kev firmed up the information foundation. Tuesday I went to the dome with my wedge and 6 iron. I had rockets coming off the 6 iron. Wondering if it may have been a one day flash, I returned to the dome yesterday with w,7,6,hb,dr. Flush nearly every time. I have a whole new grounding and structure. The house is built on a firm foundation instead of flimsy stilts. I sincerely thank all of you that contribute to these threads and especially Kev Carter for his encouragement and patience. He is one of a kind. Regards, JerryG |
Thanks Jerry, it's fun to have a friend to learn with!

Do you like wool ?
Gonna be near 70 today. Gotta find them short sleeves. Going to range and hit balls and send that dead bermuda flying. Why would you want to live up north? Upstate South Carolina great place.. I just shiver when I read your posts. I can feel the twinge in my elbow when I read about your mats.

If I lived in the South I'd probably only play golf and never do all the learning I get from these Forums and the AG dvd's. This way, I go down in the dungeon, chip off the mat and watch/listen to AG golf.
This summer Kev Carter may be the only guy I don't collect money from--I hope. And for you guys in Sweden; I was there in '88. Within a half hour I was looking for a phone to call my wife and tell her, "Sell everything. We're movin'." |
And now we have 1 GSEM and 5 GSEBs....
Welcome back Jerry:salut: anders |
