Accumulator Question
I have not made a search for this topic.
"Why did Homer give them the numbers they got?" This was a question I got from a fellow instructor. I told him I did not know, but that I knew where to get the answer.......:) The question arised when we talked about the order of the releasing. 4,1,2,3 "Huhhh? Would it not be more logical to number them in correct starting order and start with nr 1?" Mike O? Yoda? Anybody................not being Bucket........... |

Homer was a savant. A genius with numbers and geometry. The problem was, he was left with little faculty to complete the simple daily normal tasks like you and I. His wife, Betty, numbered his clothing so each morning after his shower he could dress in an orderly fashion. Socks were numbered 1, Pants #2, Shoes #3 and Shirt #4. After years of dressing this way, he found it to be mathematically beneficial and efficient to dress in the order of 4,3,2,1. Hence, he named the Power Accumulators in that order. It’s in the book, I think. :laughing9 It's not you, really. I had to call Bucket for the answer too. |

Not most widely used (as he shakes his head in disbelief). It's the Accumulator Release Order. :) I can surmise from these and other posts that I'll be again doing most of the Talking at the next LBG Seminar. |

2nd time you've mentioned this so I'll assume you are not just joking and are serious. The question of the thread was - "Why in the book are the accumulators listed in "that" order i.e. right arm #1, left wrist #2, ..... . In other words- why didn't he just list them in order of their release sequence - so that the release sequence wasn't 4,1,2,3. |
Sorry Mike O,
Thank you. I thought he was asking what was the meaning of 4,1,2,3. The Student wondered why HK didn't name the left arm #1 since the left arm is #1 to be released. I get it. I thought you were saying that #1 is released first. Duh. I need to read the questions better, and drink more often. However, I think that confusion still exists. We do agree that the Release order is 4,1,2,3. But, he didn't name the right arm #1 because it is used more often. He said "Accumulators are numbered in the order of their probable widest use in Stroke Type Combinations." Order of probable widest use, means "greatest number of combinations it can be applied to" and does not mean "most frequently applied". |

Darly raises a great point - and makes sense to me especially with the quotes. I hadnt ever really thought of 'why', but makes sense - and i do not rememember ever discussing this anywhere. Good stuff. -Patrick |
