I’m shaking my head again in disbelief. DO NOT ENCOURAGE Bucket and glcoach to continue this kind of armchair analysis. They corrupt and mislead. Participants on this web-site are going to begin believing that TGM is a tool to determine the better Golfer by comparison. The SCORE CARD does that.

Look how our vocabulary has been polluted and deteriorated in this thread alone. New terms are being introduced such as, "LAG look, great pivot, best strong-gripped, shut faced turned grip angled hinger, snaps his left leg, anit-swivel, big lag look, De-lagging, Bedwetter, right-sided slinger, Whale driver. " For what benefit?

Never, in any of the 6 real editions of TGM has HK every compared two Golfers with a side-by-side comparison of components to determine who is using what better than the other guy. The Pro’s have swung their clubs hundreds of thousands of time over a lifetime to find what works for them and Bucket and glcoach appear to have used TGM to analyze their 24 components in 30 seconds (ok, maybe 60 seconds). :)

TGM is not a search for the perfect swing. This reminds me of kids a a Kung Fu school. AS soon as they learn a little bit of fighting, they go around wanting to beat-everyone-up.

I see your point for some of the above Daryl, but what is the problem with talking about the club someone is using (Whale driver)? Besides, glcoach and the Bucket are putting their "armchair analysis" up for critique. They haven't exactly set up websites full of lies and are unwilling to hear contrary views.

glcoach 01-28-2008 09:55 AM

I thought we were just talking about preferences.

I prefer Boo Weekley's swing. However, Zach has a major and can probably hit more shots and his is the pattern I can probably come the closest to being my model.

As for just knowing enough to be dangerous...That's not really accurate. I do coach this game for a living and develop GIRLS from scratch when they are freshmen, and when they graduate, they likely have a golf scholarship in hand. I don't mean to corrupt anyone, I was just having some fun....sorry.

That is really cool glcoach! Say, if I start left handed this year, what do you think you could do for me?

D . . . Corrupt and Mislead??? Come on man! There are two sample patterns in the book . . . not everbody is going to swing like that. Remember Homer was into RESEARCH not teaching. He left that up to AI's. Now I ain't no AI that's for sure. But like Mrodock said . . . I put up my analysis in the arm chair or electic chair or whatever.

But don't forget that there is a Chapter 10 in the book . . . You couldn't pin Homer to recommend ANY swing. I'm POSITIVE that he had his ideas about what worked best. But he said you CAN DO ANYTHING. Even have pivot controlled hands . ..

Soooooo . . . you have too understand if you go to any driving range today anywhere anytime . . . there are going to be people have 10-2-D grips AND a visually flat left wrist . . .which means in pop vernacular that they are SHUT. So then the question becomes is that bad or good? and the answer is NO.

Try this one for yourself . . . grip it turned . . . get a flat left wrist and a shut face at the top. Now take the club back down slowly to the ball . . . it the more the shaft is vertical to the ground the more the face looks left. So if you have that kind of look at the top you have to get the shaft LEANING forward to get the face open. There are lots of ways to do that . . . get your hands way forward . . . get tilted a lot . . . turn left hard.

So here's Byron Nelson 10-2-B grip . . .check this shaft lean vs. Lee Buck

Here's shaft leaning . . .he said "I have a great pair of legs." Right! He had to to keep the club from shutting and hitting low lefties.

Down . ..

To the moon . . .

Look at the finishes . . . the differences are undeniable . . . and the ball flights too! This ain't no analysis . . . THIS IS HOW IT WORKS. Watch the hips and how the finishes end up . .. Can you see high and low?

HOMER SAID YOU CAN DO ANYTHING YOU WANT.

So there are plenty of cats that have won Major with 10-2-D grips and shut faces . . . Lee Buck, Double D, Zach Johnson and I'm sure there are more.

So this analysis IS import to them . . .maybe not to you . . .but it is to anybody that has that grip and has it shut. If you want to rip the pages of Chapter 10 outta your book . . . fine with me . . . but when you dig deeeeep . . .that's where the real genius of Homer Kelley lies.

But it's up to the player (imploredly (sp?) by the help of an AI according to Homer) to take the parts in Chapter 10 and make the whole.

Don't pay any attention to Daryl . . . he's a nice guy! He's just smack talkin' . . . he's learning too . . . we just have to drag him kickin' and screamin' to the water . . . he'll drink . . . someday.

Hey Daryl . . . I LUV YOU MAN!!!!!

You aren't far from turning into a girl already . . . I'll take the under on three days and you'll be a left handed woman.

I could help you learn to hit it. But you know more about this stuff than me. I take what I learn and try to apply it to raw beginners and it works pretty well

Chip, Pitch, Punch or basic and acquired motion if you prefer.

I hope no one took by statement the wrong way. I was in no way trying to promote myself or make claims that I am the greatest hs golf coach ever. I was responding to a perceived attack....sorry....once again.
