At the moment, I don't know anything about this problem -- except that it exists -- much less how to solve it. I will know a whole lot more this time next week.

There currently are LBG members in 52 countries. My sense is that we will produce one DVD. Those who know they can't play it will be offered a streaming version.

Yes as Paul said, my DVD player will not play U.S. DVDs and that's why I always perfer the streaming paypal method...

But I know that some DVD players can make the deal, I will look into it.

We've already made the downloadable videos and the challenge was the sheer size and quality. There is over 3 hours of instruction, all shot by a professional camera crew at very high quality. We spent several man-weeks working them over. We tried DivX, Windows Media and Quicktime. DivX was great but the files were large along with some trouble in getting codecs set up. We settled on Windows Media for the web version.

In order to preserve as much quality as possible from the original videos, the web version files are very large and broken into approximately 40 video segments or chapters. In other words, a ton of content that is such good quality, you won't want to stream it unless you have a very high bandwidth internet connection, even then it will pause to buffer the video.

So the only reasonable choice is to download each chapter to your computer and save it there. Around 6GB in total of video. The better choice is DVD which provides compact, easily to distribute, easy to store, and excellent quality medium. There is also a menu system for quickly accessing DVD chapters.

The quality of the DVD version is at least double or triple the web version. There's just no other way to do it without making the web videos over 20GB which would take days to download.

DVD is the best way to go.

From the original 'edited' product, a PAL version is easy to produce physically but it will be more of a scale production effort for the production house. Might cost an extra $5 for a smaller run per copy for pure DVD.

Had my nose in video editing and compression format books this last week. What is that old saying about 'a little knowledge is a bad thing.':confused1

I left Atlanta with only minimal punchlist items to approve. Unfortunately, one of.these involves a specific disk approval that will have to wait until my return on the 26th. But, we're close . . . real close. The production folks are ready.to go, and so am I!

Hi Yoda, just wondering how is the DVD production progressing? Any idea when it will be available to order?

There is only one word for "Alignment Golf"

AG is Yoda and VJ's long awaited DVD. The word for it is GENIUS!

The Alignment Golf dvd is a must have. It really brings the "yellow book" to life. I received my copy a week ago and must have watched at least 3 times. Its hard to tell because I play it in the golf shop. Of all the golf dvd's that have been played, in the shop, Alignment Golf has garnered the most interest

Thanks, Paul. Tell me . . . do the DVDs 'work' in the DVD players on your side of the world? Or do you play them on your computer?

My 12 year old has just parked himself in front of the TV full of flu and watched DVD #1. It was interesting watching him every now and then stand up and 'try something' with an imaginary club. Oh well if he cannot go to school he might as well go to golf school :laughing9 He is pretty well versed in TGMese. Shows if you get the language and motions into heads early it does not present any comprehension issues.

He pipes up after watching it. Dad, I prefer hitting chips and swinging pitches. How many of our students can say they know what is driving or pulling what?

Full Swing

When do you plan to release the full swing video you and VJ mention during the first DVD?

I did notice Yoda that they were wisely burnt as multi-region DVD's - so they will work everywhere. The only people that might have issues are those with very old DVD players which can't play NTSC discs, or old TV's.

The DVD covers all aspects of the game not just the short game. The 2nd DVD contains a lot of drills that are applied to the full swing as well.
Alex

Scottgas2 11-25-2008 01:17 AM

I haven't watched the 3rd one yet. It is titled putting, so I guess I won't see any full swing stuff there. It is just that Yoda and VJ keep referring to full swing instruction on the first disk. I expected to see at least 5 minutes on a systematic approach.

okie 12-01-2008 02:06 PM

It is all there!

I thought the same thing...at first. The drills DVD not only provides the drills but also a concise explanation of what goes on in all three zones! I like DVD #1 and #3...but I LOVE #2! It is all there. As I have posted before I wish there were more total motions of Yoda's stroke in there! Not only is it aesthetically pleasing, but each board is precision selected and cut!

I went the other direction. I've spent a LOT of time with #1 and #3, barely peeked at #2. Sounds like I better jump in!
