Unfortunate incidident

I understand hjack's position. He values life and feels like Tripp did it on purpose because he continually hit at the bird. hjack also has no vested interest in Tripp Isenhour and will likely never meet him or even pass by and say "hello"

I also understand Lynn's position, but he is in a little different place being a PGA Tour instructor.....remember, the Tour is a chummy place and I'm sure it would get back to Tripp Isenhour if Lynn were on here bashing him to kingdom come. Nobody needs icy relations in the place where they work, especially in a situation where every one you meet is a potential client.

Not saying anyone has an "agenda" just pointing out that these two look at this situation a lot differently simply because of "logistics"

What!!!

What about my position???

I started this thread and it got dumped on by PETA.
Now the UN is involved.
I'm doing my best to keep Code Pink out of here but MikeO is the poster boy.

I just want to know what to call a "Hawk" when it happens. :eyes:

glcoach 03-09-2008 01:15 AM

Your position is well noted

I personally like the definition of a hawk being a situation where you hit a shot too precise for your own good

Examples:

Charles Howell at the Buick
Tiger at the Masters a couple of years ago

Both of these were situations where the ball hit the flagstick and went into the water or other hazard

Example use:

"he hawked it off the flagstick and took dub"

hjack demanded that Tripp Isenhour -- who, by the way, I have never met -- suffer a one-year career suspension and perform 1,000 hours of community service as punishment for his alledged crime. My rebutting post #9 labeled that penalty "a bit extreme" and explained why I felt that way.

Does anyone else -- 'on tour' or not -- think such extreme punishment is warranted?

Anyone?

Sadly, as in 17th century Salem, probably so.

I stand corrected:

hjack merely "suggested" the aforementioned punishment.

Personally, I don't think he would have delivered that harsh a sentence as a judge. [But, you never know.] Nevertheless, words are weapons that can be used to inflame or diffuse situations. In my opinion, his words inflamed and mine diffused (or at least attempted a realistic perspective).

Nice try all 'round.

Meanwhile, a thread that started off as fun -- insensitive soul that I am -- no longer is.

Look for me elsewhere.

glcoach 03-09-2008 10:15 PM

I was just trying to add perspective. People respond differently to different situations. I wasn't accusing anyone of anything.

No need to yell at me hjack. I am certainly not accusing someone, a person I've never met, of not having values.

For newbies in the world of Internet posting, using ALL CAPITAL LETTERS is yelling.

We have a full complement of word emphasis tools here -- bold, italics and underline. Also, combinations thereof. Plus color. Even bold color. With or without sizing! Except in the most extreme circumstances (usually to satisfy a literary intent), please use them.

These techniques will avoid the simplistic -- and irksome -- ALL CAPS approach.

Thanks!

Ok, you're right. We'll have Howard work on the 'Mexican Boarder' thing. By the time he solves those issues, we'll have implants.

I bought an I-phone, so now I get LBG.com on my phone browser.

Does the Swamp have a Cocktail Lounge? Some Ritz Hotels have indoor Practice Ranges. I'll have to ask the Atlanta Ritz.

We're going to have a lot of fun. I hope Bambam can hold up.

Oh ya. Lets go out, and then put someone behind the wheel who comes from a State with more Drive-Thu Liquor Stores than Golf Courses. :laughing9 :laughing9 :laughing9 You better be really good at fixin stuff. :laughing9

footnotes:

The first thing that comes to mind when one thinks of Texas is big . Texas has a reputation for big cars, big ranches, big homes, big everything. But how big is Texas really? Texas has a land area of 261,914 square miles; for reference, France has a land area of 216,641 sq miles (545,630 sq km). The distance from Texarkana, Texas to El Paso is 830 miles as compared to only 802 miles between New York City and Chicago, Illinois. At an estimated population of over 20 million (1999) Texas ranks 3rd in the United States behind New York and California. According to comedian Drew Carey, Texas also leads the nation in drive-thru liquor stores.

Jag Facts

In the interest of full disclosure . . .

The Jag is a ten-year-old sedan. Not a big deal.

Still, it's got only 85,000 miles on it -- mostly a 16-mile round trip to and from my home and an office tower. As I say of this artifact of my former life: "From covered parking to covered parking."

Lately, though -- much to the delight of The Jag -- I've been burnin' up the road to:

-- The airport.

-- Florida.

-- And states 'round!

It's an old friend now, and freshly detailed, it still looks great.

Best of all . . .

It's paid for!

Our BBQ's are the cause of global warming
The oil in the sand on our coastline could drop gas prices by $1 a gallon
We only rank #4 in the US for the total number of golf courses, but they also double as big game hunting and fishing areas.

And I have two lead-foot teenagers, so my life is simply full-time damage control. Even Bucket won't insure me.

I'm assuming you meant in my truck because you've clearly not seen me hit my driver. Out here in the country there are no curved roads. If it wasn't for the need to occasionally change from going due east/west to north/south, we wouldn't need steering wheels at all.

Not to worry, Daryl.

Bambam's pickup has a 'wings' logo on it, plus lots of FedEx boxes in the cargo bed.

It's meant to be.
