That stroke looks like it's perfect for chipping out of Bermuda grass.

Chip shanks (ouch) are often a result of over swiveling the clubhead under the plane on the backstroke. It begets an equal and opposite motion on the through swing and feels like youre throwing the hozel or face at the ball. Never a good thing.

At least thats how I execute that procedure.

If your hands are moving out from DTL I bet you over swivel you left forearm sending the club back, under plane. The solution dont let the clubhead move inside of your hands until they reach the same height. Dont let your clubhead move inside of your hands and under your hands. Send the hands Back, In and Up , not Back , Out , Up.

In other words .......you got to get on plane and get rid of any false feel loading you've learned. Close your eyes and feel how it feels when done correctly . Where you feel it in your hands. Then repeat that feel. Learn feel from alignments and reproduce them via the feel.

Mr Hogans chipping style if seen DTL will not wag the clubhead under the hands or under plane.
