No- the right arm does NOT straighten at the start of the downswing- thats going off plane - OTT. Even Hitters have a pivot start down that moves the right arm on plane before it straightens through the ball to low point. Checkout Lynn's Hiting v Swinging video- it was one of the first. It is in the video clips- Lynn Blake- 5th one down on the left.

In "hitting", my rotating pivot keeps pushing the straightening right arm, which keeps pushing the unbending right wrist, which keeps pushing the grip against the clubhead, to try to keep Bending The Shaft (or "sustain the clubhead lag") through impact.
