A third edition signed can run you $500 or more . . . be prepared for sticker shock.

I have all 7 editions. They're in new condition and I never paid more than $35 for any one of them. In fact the 3rd edition was the last one I obtained and I paid the most for it, $35. It's unsigned though.

You have to be patient and be in the right place at the right time.

Nice! Define "right place."

Way to go!

Then again I bought a Homer Kelley signed copy for 500 bucks from a friend of this web site. I wear white linen gloves when I read it. It is sealed away with a note to my "survivors" telling them that this yellow book has extreme value.

"The Hunt for Yellow October"

Those of you that have PM'ed me about the early editions you are looking for, I still have you on the list. Demand for these earlier editions has grown in the last few years :study: . Fear not, I will keep looking and let you know when something turns up.

It took me awhile to get all of the editions (never paid three figures for any of them), especially a signed first edition. But, the truth is out there. We just have to remain patient.

In speaking with the owner of TGM, he said one of his future projects includes a reprint of all editions and to sell them as one collection. If and when that happens remains to be seen.

Regularly search the used book sites on the web. That's what I did and caught a 3rd edition right after it was listed. To be honest, when I saw the publish date of 1975 I thought it was a mistake and I couldn't be that lucky, but for $35 I was willing to take a chance. While I was waiting for it to arrive I kept thinking it's probably a 4th or 5th edition. When it did arrive I immediately opened the cover and saw the last copyright date was 1975. My search was finally over and my collection complete! :hello2:

Sometimes the quest is more fun than its completion.
