I have seen comments from Will Claxton, recent Auburn grad and from Jim Renner---both lost to Michele but were very complimentary towards her. Nice to see good sportsmanship prevailing. Dr Dave

my feeling's
I am getting the impression from who I talk to and listening to other's opinion's that nobody really has issue with her playing in men's event.
I think the media as usual likes to and is over-hyping the sourness coming from men. I think she could help the LPGA enormously if she stuck to that. If she doesn't the LPGA may tank. |
Wanole,
Agree with you--these attempts to play with the men are interesting, but I would REALLY like her to stick with the LPGA. With Annika, Gulbis,Morgan Pressel (maybe), Kerr, etc-----that would give a tremendous boost to the LPGA. I almost think it would serve her better to get a few wins under her belt on the LPGA and THEN periodically try a few Monday qualifiers or sponsor exemptions on the PGA tour. She can almost single-handedly "save" the LPGA tour if she plays there when she turns pro. I hope her handlers figure this out. Dr Dave |

Overcoming a "Wie" bit of bad luck
Although he lost to Michelle Wie last week, Jim Renner won the New England Amateur today in a playoff at Valley CC in Cranston, RI. Jim carded rounds of 68-70-72-70-total 278 (-6) before beating Andy Drohen of St. Anne CC in a playoff.
That should get the members of my club and ESPN off his back for losing to Wie. She is pretty impressive though. Keep an eye out for Jim, I expect good things from him in the future. |
