This works for me
I have had a tendency to move off the ball too much during the backstroke. On a recent trip to the swamp Yoda pinpointed one cause - my ball position was too far back in my stance which caused me to feel like I had to move to get behind the ball. Even so, I struggle with this.

I picked up a tip this past weekend from our club champion which is really helping me. I noticed one of his start-up keys/triggers is he kicks his right knee inward just prior to take-away. He told me he was taught that as a kid to keep him from swaying off the ball. Thought I would give it a try.

It is working. I actually don't use it as a start-up trigger but I do make it part of my set-up routine. I have found it to be incredibly effective. It gives me the feeling of really being anchored. I am not moving off the ball but still able to make the proper pivot.

I'm wondering if this little trick with the knee has any connection in TGM and perhaps I've just not picked it up from the book?
