An out of balance condition
Back to the basics once again to seek out the same old issues that keeps creeping in and out of my Acquired Motion—the almighty shank. Today, someone observed my Acquired Motion and point out to me that I was leaning forwards towards the ball at start up. He also observed that I was also leaning far forward on the downswing as well and said that this is causing my shanks. He believes that I am exerting my weight on the club at address and that causes me to lose my balance when I Start Up. He suggested that I place more weight onto my heels and keep the club off the ground at address. Folks, I have to say that this is not easy for me to do because I am so use to the feeling of grounding my club at address. When I am playing out of a bunker, I don’t worry about not grounding my club because I am not afraid of taking some sand with the ball. Nevertheless, when I set up for a long or short pitch from the fairway or rough, the feeling of grounding my club seems the natural thing to do.
