LynnBlakeGolf: LaGuardia bound. 1st had to return to BP and return 'L' shirts for 'XL'. How do you walk approx 186 miles in 5 days and gain 3 pounds? :-)

Scottgas2 06-21-2009 01:28 PM

It is not the walking

Portion control is more important than clubface control when it comes to shirt size.
Seriously, a great accomplishment by BG to play in the Open. He didn't choke on it any more than #1 is right now.

GLFNVEG 06-21-2009 06:51 PM

polyester should have stayed outlawed for golf shirts.
sorry i missed you there lynn.

he did not choke AT ALL!!!!!!!! What are you talking about,,,,,,,,the course is set up to be bombed around.

choking is what the leaders have done for the last 12 or so holes, by not separating themselves. BG, while maybe did not play his best played a pretty damn good game, with the set up they had to play.

ROCK ON LB AND BG... ROCK ON !!!:salut:

Disproportionate Rewards

I agree.

There are several holes where the shorter hitters must drive to narrow fairways, e.g., 18 yards wide, while longer hitters drive to far wider fairways, e.g., 30 yards wide. Also, bunkers that pose no problem for the longer brethren are absolutely in play for the shorter. So, in addition to the length and bunker-exemption reward, the longer hitters also get the wider fairway reward.

How do I know?

I paced the respective fairways off -- in disbelief -- on Wednesday.

No excuses for BG necessary or offered. After all, Fred Funk, another short-hitter and one who just turned 53-years-old, made the cut (on the number).

But . . .

He (and BG) played a far different golf course than did most in the field.

LynnBlakeGolf: In Chez Colette restaurant / Hotel Sofitel / Bloomington, MN, for PGA. Miguel Angel Cabrerra lady walk in. Both in ponytails. His curlier!

Yoda 08-10-2009 11:39 PM

LynnBlakeGolf: Spent all day with wonderful group at Medina CC. Next four days: TOUR players at PGA. Both groups will improve. Today's will appear more.

Yoda 08-10-2009 11:50 PM

LynnBlakeGolf: I am a huge Miguel fan. He's his own man. In the arena, he asks no quarter and gives none. Outside, he loves life and enjoys his own.

Yoda 08-10-2009 11:59 PM

LynnBlakeGolf: I've adjourned to the empty south patio of Hotel Sofitel for a cigar and my own thoughts. A couple appears and assume the nearby table.

Yoda 08-11-2009 12:09 AM

LynnBlakeGolf: I ask if my smoke will offend. "Oh no" says he. "You were here first. Besides, I'm going to have one of my own."

Yoda 08-11-2009 12:15 AM

LynnBlakeGolf: I discreetly move down six tables on the empty patio. Mrs. Yoda's not here -- and Miguel and his lady deserve that space. :-)

Yoda 08-11-2009 12:25 AM

LynnBlakeGolf: Most of the PGA players are in now. From the patio I count 22 Mercedes Benz S550 courtesy cars. Fittting transport for the world's best!

Yoda 08-11-2009 12:39 AM

LynnBlakeGolf: Alone again on the patio. 12-wheelers roar down I-494 toward their destinations. Tomorrow, TOUR players will begin their prep in earnest.

Yoda 08-11-2009 12:40 AM

LynnBlakeGolf: Hazeltine awaits.

Good times Yoda!

I take it you mean't Miguel Angel Jiminez though?!!

A great guy, they call him the mechanic on tour and in the run up to the 2004 Ryder Cup, he is reported to have said to Bernard Langer in one of the team talks:

"I have just 3 demands.
1) Good Cigars
2) Good red wine
and 3) Good coffee, american coffee is sheeeeeeet"

lol!

O.B.Left 08-11-2009 10:29 AM

I love the guy too. Ever since I saw his warm up routine at the 2008 Masters. He looked like he was waking up and wiping the sleep from his eyes, lit a cigar, did some back stretches for 10 minutes or so then hit a bit. Nice shoes too.

Styles why do they call him the mechanic?

Yoda 08-11-2009 12:03 PM

Unforced Error

LynnBlakeGolf: After a full day on the tee and course at Hazeltine, I'm back on the patio at Hotel Sofitel. This time, Miguel A. Jimenez beat me here.

Yoda 08-11-2009 11:47 PM

LynnBlakeGolf: This time sans lady but with male associate and cigar in full flame. Got a photo with him today at Hazeltine and told last night's story.

Yoda 08-11-2009 11:50 PM

LynnBlakeGolf: I'll post the photo later. Tonight, his hair was down, and the Spanish was rattling like a machine gun. Gotta love it!

Yoda 08-11-2009 11:55 PM

LynnBlakeGolf: So much to tell about today. Tweets can't do it justice. So many familiar friends on TOUR and so many new. I'll put up a photo-post soon.

Yoda 08-12-2009 12:02 AM

LynnBlakeGolf: Yes, These Guys Are Good, but more important, These Guys Are Good Guys! The TOUR is home away from home, and I'm feeling at home, too.

needham 08-12-2009 12:05 AM

he always struck me as the guy to.....fiesta con chicas hasta manana way!.......but I see he is married so perhaps ....no fiesta pero con la novia!

hasta luego!:salut:

LynnBlakeGolf: Much of what is said inside the ropes must stay inside the ropes. This is a fraternity of the best with its own unwritten rules of conduct.

Yoda 08-12-2009 12:23 AM

LynnBlakeGolf: As in all walks of life, trust is earned. Even so, it remains a fragile commodity. Players, caddies, coaches, TOUR staff and Media are one.

GPStyles 08-12-2009 07:26 AM

Its good to hear you are getting accustomed to life on Tour Lynn.

Without breaking any trust, are you finding yourself being approached by any of the guys on the range who are looking to hit it better?

Yoda 08-12-2009 01:32 PM

LynnBlakeGolf: Having lunch in Caddie Hospitality located in the clubhouse. Four of us share a table, including Fanny Sunesson (Faldo now Stensen). Great! http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/sport/golf/527118.stm

Yoda 08-12-2009 01:36 PM

LynnBlakeGolf: Many pros also eat here instead of in more elaborate Player Dining. Hello! Steve Elkington has just joined us. John Daly, too. Here we go!

Yoda 08-12-2009 02:00 PM

LynnBlakeGolf: BG's still not on site. He's planning a light day -- hit balls and short game. I'm headed to the PGA Learning Center to learn something!

Yoda 08-12-2009 03:54 PM

LynnBlakeGolf: Been with BG on practice tee and in short game area. He's a true master of his craft. Now to the putting green!

KevCarter 08-12-2009 06:55 PM

He was so fun to watch YODA. What a GREAT motion you have developed with him!

LynnBlakeGolf: Day done, back at Hotel Sofitel and Chez Colette restaurant. This is an upscale, white tablecloth place, presently inhabited by . . .

Yoda 08-12-2009 09:27 PM

LynnBlakeGolf: . . . more than a few TOUR folk. Most 'get it' -- but, c'mon, guys -- this ain't Caddie Central. Take your hat off. :-(

Yoda 08-12-2009 09:46 PM

LynnBlakeGolf: Voices in the Crowd #1 After watching Robt Allenby stripe a mid-iron tight to the pin: "I could practice ten years. Some things you just don't get good at."

Yoda 08-12-2009 09:49 PM

LynnBlakeGolf: Voices in the Crowd #2 "So, say again how you get the interest deduction on the Mercedes?"

Yoda 08-12-2009 10:24 PM

LynnBlakeGolf: From Sofitel, shuttles for PGA staff -- and others :-) -- have been running from 7:30 am departure to 6:30 pm return. Tomorrow 5 am - 9 pm.

Yoda 08-12-2009 10:35 PM

LynnBlakeGolf: Tomorrow is Thursday, and the Game is on! I'm out at 6:30 am.One more sign: Miguel is AWOL from the patio. I feel suddenly lonely, :-(
