The Flat Left Wrist Bends because of Uneducated Hands.
I spend a good percentage of my lessons, teaching beginners, ladies, scratch player's, college player's, club champs, and everyone in between how to maintain the flat left wrist at Impact and through to Follow Through by educating the hands and the flying wedges. I start with the basic motion and work up. I teach at least two of these lesson a day......and boy is it fun!! By the way these lesson's have a pretty high return rate because when you improve basic motion impact you've began improvement on all impact positions...basic, acquired, and full swing.:hello2: Sorting Through the Instructor's Textbook...with the help of Ted, Lynn, and David. Tong,
You missed the point. You either have the flat wrist and create max compression or not. Faked is not flat. I believe one could have a bent right wrist and lag pressure and not have a flat wrist. Maybe I am wrong but Homer made it #1 (flat wrist) for a reason. |

Bend

I think one of the main reasons it BENDS(at IMPACT) is because people are trying to hit the ball FORWARD, AND USE A FLIPPING MOTION OF THE HANDS AS A POWER SOURCE TO DO THIS. Rather, the hands should just HOLD ON, and move DOWN towards the aiming point. |

So then is flipping an action of its own or a result of something else? or both? I was thinking along the lines of, if you don't have a proper pivot or don't rotate all the way to finish the hands overtake and the result is a flipping motion. Yes, no, maybe? |

But I think what Tong means.... Is that to REALLY sustain Lag Pressure.... I think it helps to be on plane (esp. not way underplane)....."on-plane force".... And if you have Lag Pressure... You will have a Flat left wrist thru Impact.... ... BTW what's this "fake flat" business? |

And if you use a 10-2-D grip, you will have a noticable "bend" in that left wrist, ala Daly or Couples. |

- loss of Lag Pressure inevitably.... - too open clubface (you more-or-less have to Bend it to not hit way right....) |
