Swinging from the feet

The left heel or more accurately the spot directly under the left ankle is a stationary post with the left foot open hips knees and shoulders parallel the head is a stationary post right forearm is on plane the arms maintain their structure and checkrein action always with extensor, the grip is placed in the left hand directly in the first crease of the hand closest to the pinky. Right forearm moves with extensor with the shoulder turn to lift the club on plane with the back turned to the target the point furthest from the hands now leads the pivot train and hands like a fixed gear which is the left ankle through low point all the way to the finish. This is what hogan was doing, this is swinging from the feet i can see it now and feel it now i can swing as hard or soft as i want the right index finger sensing the amount of lag pressure. My course management and strategy went from idiocy to brilliance and with this golf swing no golf course has a chance. My chipping is very good my pitching is good sand play mediocre and putting mediocre. My plan with putting is using a face balanced putter on a chalk line on my putting plane to groove the stroke when my putting gets back to how good it used to be i will destroy any golf course

Are the MacDonald exercises something you find helpful?

whip 09-07-2014 08:38 AM

Not personally but they seem like good motions

whip 09-07-2014 09:01 AM

I think its important though to realize that although the hands control the pivot the pivot must move in a precise way because without the pivot train the hands cannot move with any real force and if the pivot train is moved in a vague sloppy way the hands will have no precision. I think of tgm golfers get too much concerned with the hands movement and accumulator lag and forward lean when really zone 1 the pivot is so important and with extensor will transport the hands with power and precision. The pivot is not everything but if the pivot doesnt move precisely and and the hips dont lead the shoulders in the downswing all the way through you can forget about educated hands unless you like hitting the ball with no power and little precision Zone 1 is so important!!!

airair 09-07-2014 09:19 AM

I guess that's why the pivot is Zone 1 and not Zone 3. But " the mind is in the hands" telling the body what to do to get it right?

whip 09-07-2014 09:44 AM

Absolutely not. Dont get caught in the errors that plague too many tgm golfers who interpret hands controlled pivot to mean that if you move the hands they will move the pivot they dont and wont! My main concern in every full swing is to make a smooth motion that is always led by the hips.

whip 09-07-2014 09:51 AM

I should correct that really you are right in that the zone 3 components essentially dictate how the pivot (zone 1 components) should move but they ARE NOT GOING TO MOVE THEM thats the part where i think tgmers often get it wrong.

airair 09-07-2014 10:49 AM

The example Lynn Blake uses is picking up the keys from the floor - with our hand(s) - the body does what it must to make this task possible - your hands got an assignment and your body responded to the demand of the hands - if that makes any sense?

That is the exact example of what im tryig to emphasize is the problem, it doesnt work that way! Forget that! I like how joe daniels put it " the body takes you to the door, the hands turn the key" the hands alone will not create any pivot lag, sequence of the pivot train or nor the the backstroke pivot! Remember the pivot is thr giant motor that drives the power package! Nowhere in the book does homer say that moving the hands will move the pivot

airair 09-10-2014 05:55 PM

Either you misunderstand this - or I do (which wouldn't surprise me). The hands are not doing the work - they are just clamps. But the work that the body has to do is carried out as if the hands were the boss giving orders what to do. "The mind is in the hands" But the work is done by the body/pivot (zone 1 ) and the arms (zone 2). But they don't do this according to their own will - it is an assignment that is given them. That's how I have understood this - or misunderstood this.

whip 09-10-2014 06:58 PM

What you just posted is correct the idea of leaning down to pick up a quarter i feel is a very incorrect analogy for the golf swing

airair 09-10-2014 07:42 PM

Well, you pick it up with (the fingers in) your hand. You also hold the club in your hands. The golf stroke is more complicated than picking up a coin, but all zones are involved and job has to be done somehow and the hands have their vital role to play. I don't think there is much hope of picking up the coin or making a golf stroke without the use of the hands. Are you familiar with the Homunculus figure? https://www.google.no/search?q=Homun...2F%3B376%3B390 It's a graphical illustration sizing the various body parts in direct proportion to the amount of brainpower allocated to their function.

slow motion versus full speed

Let's see the swing while hitting a ball with the same club used on the slow motion swing. Not to critique but to learn.

i figured out the secret of golf, the secret is practicing using the little plane, it's like cheating it's the greatest training aid you could ever have, i do thousands of reps on it, from putting to full swing you know you are on plane, i go to the top and hold it for several seconds my game is getting better every rep my backswing muscle memory is ingrained for a perfect backswing every time. putting is ingrained. if you dont have this you r at a huge disadvantage this training aid will take me to the pga TOUR

slow motion versus full speed

Really understanding what "feel" is and how to use it is a key area in movement. Like life - it's a blanket with many threads - it is a subject where you need to understand many perspectives and manipulate different contexts in order to get close to understanding it.

Good luck with your pursuit! Besides your gofundme site - would be good to post up scores or other information to get people excited about your progress or ability to make the PGA - you could even incent people by saying X$ donation allows you to caddie for me on the PGA tour for one round when I make it.

All the Best!

thanks mike I don't think theres much hope for sponsorship ive been sponsoring myself for awhile. better off hustling. what do you think the differences are from the slo mo swing i really dont see anything different.

tried 3 times to post and makes me re sign in and then my post is gone I give up

Mike O 12-12-2014 11:03 PM

slow mo at impact and follow thru versus full speed - more hip rotation and right foot difference

i figured out how to shallow the club back onto the elbow plane from the turned shoulder pull the butt end away from you horizontally from the top while bumping the hips to the left try to keep the shoulders turned while doing this

with my training aid i have grooved a perfect backswing and now im grooving the perfect downswing i have full understanding of the sequence of the swing and the physical ability, my putting is grooved on the plane trainer chipping too. after 5 years with my coach greg smith GSEM who i consider the best coach in the world.

Par71 12-13-2014 09:38 AM

Whip,
Is that little swing plane training aid in the videos a commercial device or something that you have made yourself?

whip 12-13-2014 01:28 PM

its something i made myself i also made an 8 foot by 8 foot one for my golf instructor you can see the prototype here gregsmithgolf.com i aactually had a website for the fullsize one that was made of uv resistant pvc was available in aNY color was fully collapsible and shipped at a reasonable price very high quality embroidered padded nylon it was called the C-Plane ive sold three of them. the price proved too high for consumers though, but it was due to the expensive uv resistnt pvc which is necessary in the sun. I even had patents slick blueprints and a website i designed it to collapse in such a way that could fit in a small shipping box despite its huge size its very nice there are three in existence. this small one is proving to be nearly as useful, if anyone wants one i can make u one for a 100 dollar donation
